Have you ever seen someone sitting across from you in a restaurant or
walked by someone on the street and just wondered what their story would be? After all, they say everyone has a story.  Some may have brave heroic stories, while some would reveal great pain and suffering. Although someone she crosses paths with ineveryday life may not realize, Kyla Rowland Mullins has a story. My story is basically like many people's. I was born and raised a Baptist preacher's daughter. My Mother was our church pianist. I was always in church. There was no searching involved in my decision to live for Christ.. It was instilled in me and was something I always knew. When you're around God's people and God's word and ways all of your life, you just sort of evolve into the Christian walk. I always stayed at home and did what I was told. I don't really have a testimony of a powerful deliverance or an awesome
story of salvation. I wish that I did says Kyla, although simply the fact
that she has lived for Christ all her life serves as an example to many
people who wish they could share the same story.
Although Kyla herself does not have a story to tell of deliverance from a
destructive pass, she has been there with her family. In fact, the tough
times she has been through have played a major role in her songwriting. Kyla is now known as one of the all-time greatest songwriters in the history of Southern Gospel Music.Compositions such as "He Will Roll You Over The Tide",  "One Scarred Hand", "Still On The Throne",  "A Wall Of Prayer", "I Made It By Grace", &  "There Rose A Lamb".
It was at a special place in Kyla's life that she wrote her most powerful
song ever, "One Scarred Hand".  I was at one of the most beautiful places in a Christian's life, at the end of an 18 year battle with Satan for my son.  Not only had I been fighting for my son, but for my faith as well. Then I got  to that beautiful place we have all been. We are at the bottom, but then God comes along and, like He told
Isaiah, he picks us up and carries us like a lamb. For me, the story was - I was in this horrible battle, and then I had the greatest victory, but in
between I wrote a song. That song was "One Scarred Hand." That song has been  such a ministering song to me. It constantly reminds me that so many parents  today go through the same thing that I have went through. I pray that the song  will continue to give them hope. Not only did her son come back to the Lord, but he stands with her night  after night proclaiming to others what God has done in his life as a result
of a dear mother's prayers. Many people know Kyla as a songwriter, but some are not aware that she also devotes much of her time to singing with her  family, Kyla Rowland & Deliverance. The group consists of Kyla, her husband  Bob Mullins, son and daughter-in-law Barry & Tammy Rowland, and Tammy's  brother Bill Martin. Kyla Rowland & Deliverance just completed their third project, Waiting Triumphantly, on the Harbor Music Group label. The new single is one that she wrote called "I Needed To Hear That'. Kyla stays busy with her songwriting, speaking dates, and singing. In the midst of all this, she has also managed to write a book called Between Me And The Storm, and is currently working on two more! She was also recently honored with a special Tribute album by her record company. Many of today's Top Southern GospelArtists honored her by recording a project as a Tribute to her. The artists recorded popular songs that Kyla has written down through the years on A Tribute To The Songs Of Kyla Rowland.
