The Jody Brown Indian Family of Robbinsville, North Carolina, started their ministry in the year 1993, when they took part in a benefit singing for Jody Brown's mother, Ramona Brown, at the Graham County Community Center. "It started then and has been great ever since," says Jody. The Jody Brown Indian Family consists of Jody, his wife Donna, their children Jeremy and Stephanie,. They began singing shortly after Jody's parents, the Singing Browns, stopped touring because of health difficulties. Jody, a full-blooded Cherokee Indian born in Cherokee, NC, began playing for his mother and father at the age of 10. At age 13, Jody ask Jesus to come into his life while at a revival meeting in Chicago, Ill. The Singing Browns traveled sharing the gospel for 22 years.
After illness forced Jody's parents to stop what they had always loved,
Jody and Donna's daughter, Stephanie, began to sing. "Stephanie would sing around the house and in our little country church. No matter where she was, she would sing," replied Jody.
When Stephanie was 6 years old, she asked Christ to save her. Soon, her brother, Jeremy, began playing the guitar for her. Jody and Donna would soon add harmony. Sue, an excellent pianist, joined in.
Many different people heard them sing that night at the benefit. Soon
they began to get calls for them to come share their message through song. That message was Jesus loves you. Some of their first places to sing included: Mars Hill College, the dedication of the Cherohala Skyway, as well as other churches around their home.

The Jody Brown Indian Family have been taking the message of Christ to people in many states for the past 8 years. Stephanie has now written many songs for the group including songs including Imagine with Me, We'll See His Face, and one she and her grandma Sue wrote together called Hold Me Lord. "We sing because the Lord has allowed us to give back some of our talents to Him as we share with others," states Donna. "God has given us all a great love for gospel music. We love to see people, young and old, dedicate their lives to God. We know there is no limit to what God can do in one's life, if only they will submit to Him." They have had several songs that have appeared in the Singing News Top 80 Chart such as "Hold Me Lord," "I Will Sail Away," and "Oh What A Day."

Their current singles include "Patching It Up" and "Move On Up."
